  • LET'S DO LUNCH
    Boyne Area Senior Center, 411 E. Division St., is open to the public for daily lunches. For seniors age 60+, the donation is $3, for ages 60 and under. $6. For daily information call 582 6682.

  • Ice Rink Open
    The ice skating rink at Avalanche Park is now open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekends and 4 to 9 weekdays. And "Michigan's Best Sledding Hill" (as designated by "Michigan Blue" magazine) is right there, too, and a nice warming house with restrooms and free loaner skates and sleds. Say hi to Jerry Douglas, the new warming house attendant.

  • Farmers Market
    The Boyne City Farmers Market continues its winter hours of 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at the red barn next to the Boyne District Library on Park Street. Cooking Corner features our very own chefs creating tasty dishes using market available products. The Boyne City Farmers Market is managed by the award-winning Boyne City Main Street Program.

  • VALENTINE'S DAY CAKE WALK
    The Advance Board of Commerce invites you to come and spoil yourself and your sweethearts with lots of sweets at their Cake Walk from 2 to 4 p.m. on Valentine's Day, next Saturday. Donations of baked cookies, cakes, cupcakes, pies, dried fruits, low sugar or sugar-free baked good are appreciated. They can be dropped off day of event at 1p.m., or may be given to any ABC member. The Advance Board of Commerce building is located behind the Porter Creek Grocer store.

  • Chocolate-Covered Boyne
    Boyne City will be sweeter than ever for the 8th annual Chocolate-Covered Boyne on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 13-14. Sponsored by the Main Street Program and the Boyne Area Chamber of Commerce, this year's event will include more than 30 participating businesses. Chocolate-Covered Boyne has a combined chocolate/Valentine theme and there will be tastings (food and drink) of chocolate treats and goodies, and special chocolate desserts. On Saturday, Feb. 14, Freshwater Art Gallery (231-582-2588) will be hosting its annual Valentines Day concert featuring nine performers on their intimate stage. Participating businesses are asked to email their chocolate/romantic features to the Chamber, and chocolate features will be listed here starting Feb. 4. February 23
