7 - 9 p.m. Children from K - 3rd grade are invited along with their parents to participate in the evening events. We will be reading the "Leo the Lightning Bug." The other lightning bugs tease him, but with determination, motherly support, and a little luck, Leo eventually lights up in the night. Transformed by his newfound confidence, he now laughs at himself, plays with the others, and enjoys a good night's sleep. There will be additional activities, snacks and games. There are openings for 20 children, so call Local Flavor Bookstore at 231.582.7499 to reserve a spot for this fun-filled time.

  • Back to the Bricks car show tour
Downtown Boyne City will play host to the Back to the Bricks West Side Promo Tour from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 15. Back to the Bricks - the organization that puts on an annual two weeks of events culminating in a car show in downtown Flint each August - has held a promotional tour each year since 2010. Drivers cruise around the state and sometimes beyond, holding smaller car shows in various cities to promote the Genesee County events. In each city, streets are blocked off and the classic cars of the drivers on the tour, as well as drivers from the area, line the streets to show off their vehicles. An estimated 150 classic cars and their owners will be visiting Boyne City that day, filling up Water Street. Local classic car owners are invited to participate as well. Back to the Bricks will bring their own DJ playing classic car songs, as well as a Flint television reporter giving ongoing updates. Boyne area locals are also invited to participate in a 50s and 60s costume contest with prizes for the top 3 costumes. The Back to the Bricks local visit will start with lunch and a tour of Classic Instruments before the car show begins downtown.
